Even though Dordrecht may rightfully claim to be the oldest ‘city’ in the country, Nijmegen can successfully state to be a much older settlement than Dordrecht. Nijmegen was already founded in Roman times, so about 1000 years earlier. Many things about this era can be found back in the museum Valkhof. Being able to look back on such a long history, Nijmegen has more to offer then just the Roman days. During your walk your guide will show you the old roman walls, but also the powder tower and the corn market.
